How to Use the Link List Columns Component

This article walks through how to use the Link List Columns Box component. This component is great to use for link directories, especially if you have a lot of categories to show.

There are two versions of this component:

Single-Column Version
Use this layout when you want to highlight one primary category of links. It works well alongside descriptive text or other content and is ideal for focused sections like a single office, service area, or audience hub. The link box can be left- or right-justified.

Three-Column Version
Use this layout when you need to present multiple categories at once. Each column has its own heading and link list, making it well suited for directories, landing pages, or gateways where visitors need to quickly scan and choose from several sections.

What This Component Is

The Link List Columns component organizes a large number of links into clear, labeled columns so editors can present link-heavy content in a way that’s easy to scan, easy to navigate, and not overwhelming for visitors.

When to Use

Use this component when:

  • You need to display a directory of links grouped by category (ex: services, tools, offices, or resources).
Visitors are likely to scan for a specific link, rather than read content top to bottom.

Avoid this component if:

  • You only have a small number of links (a simple list or buttons are clearer).
  • Links need context, descriptions, or visuals to make sense (use cards or spotlight-style components instead).
