Pre-Nursing for First Year ApplicantsFirst-year applicants who have not taken any college courses after graduating high school are considered for admission to the College of Arts and Sciences, where students are offered the opportunity to complete prerequisite courses prior to applying to the nursing major at the end of their second year. This is not a direct admission program, but does provide all the prerequisite requirements needed to apply to the Basic Baccalaureate Program. |
Difference between the Basic Baccalaureate Program (BBP) and Accelerated Baccalaureate Program (ABP)If you already completed or will be completing a Bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing discipline, either the Accelerated Baccalaureate Program (ABP) or the Basic Baccalaureate Program (BBP) would be appropriate.
|
Accelerated Baccalaureate Program (ABP)If you have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing discipline, the Accelerated Baccalaureate program is an option. This program requires intensive, accelerated study, therefore it is important to note that students cannot work while in the program. Upon graduating, you will earn a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing and will be eligible to take the NCLEX - RN exam for licensure. Students accepted to the program will start in the summer term. |
Basic Baccalaureate Program (BBP)If you have not completed an Associate’s degree in nursing or a Bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing discipline, the Basic Baccalaureate program is appropriate. Students without a previous Bachelor’s degree are required to complete 2 years of prerequisite general education coursework that will be applied to the degree. Upon graduating, you will earn a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing and will be eligible to take the NCLEX - RN exam for licensure. Students accepted to the program will start in the fall term. |
RN to Bachelors of Science in Nursing programIf you already completed an Associate’s degree in nursing, then the RN to Baccalaureate program is appropriate. Students accepted to the program will start in the fall term. |
