CFNS Celebrated the Birthday of Prof. Alessandro Bacchetta (U. of Pavia, Italy)
Happy birthday Alessandro!
Today at the CFNS, we celebrated the birthday of Prof. Alessandro Bacchetta, a member
of the QCD research group at the University of Pavia, Italy.
Prof. Bacchetta is known for his expertise in hadronic physics and has collaborated
in experiments such as HERMES at DESY, PHENIX, and STAR at RHIC, COMPASS at CERN,
CLAS at JLab, and the future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). As a leading expert, he
is at the forefront of the development of Transverse Momentum Distributions (TMDs)
in the description of the physics within nucleons. A TMD is an extension of the concept
of Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs), which provide the complete momentum information
on the confined quark and gluons motion inside the hadron. Understand TMDs is an important
step to unveiling the knowledge of fundamental blocks of the known universe.
Prof. Bacchetta has become a great inspiration for the young hadronic physics theorists
and we were especially happy to host him at the CFNS Seminar on the topic of "TMD
Frontiers", and shared this special moment together.
