AI Quick Tips

Design assignments with AI in mind!
When creating or updating assignments, consider how earily they could be completed by AI tools. If an assignment can be answered with a generic explanation, summary, or formulaic essay, it may be vulnerable to AI-generated responses.
To promote authentic student work and deeper learning, consider redesigning assignments to include elements that are difficult for AI to generate.
Some examples include:
- Authentic assessments where students can tap into personal experiences
- Allowing students to demonstrate their knowledge through other mediums
- Asking students for justification of their reasoning
- Planning opportunities for peer interaction and/or collaboration
- Requiring the use of specific resources from the course or university library
- Slowing down reading assignments and make it an active process
- Scaffolding writing assignments over the semester
