Dare to be a force in the world of data. In Data Science (DAS), you don’t just crunch numbers - you unlock the stories hidden within them. In this program, you'll master the fundamentals of math, computer science, and statistics, and learn how to use cutting-edge tools and algorithms to tackle complex, real-world problems. You’ll sharpen your ability to analyze patterns, build predictive models, and communicate your findings clearly, giving you the power to drive smarter decisions. Every dataset becomes a challenge, and every challenge is an opportunity to shape the future with the insights you uncover.
Ready to take the next step?
Successful first year applicants in this major will have earned outstanding grades in calculus and physics, and performed exceptionally well on the Math section of the SAT and/or ACT.
Your college decision isn't really about the next four years. We get it. It’s about what doors are opened by your degree and whether those opportunities are what you had envisioned for yourself. Nearly 95% of SBU grads are employed or go to professional or graduate school. Here's a snapshot of what life after graduation looks like for some of them.
