Research Foundation (RF) Employees

ADOPTION OR FOSTER CARE PLACEMENT
FMLA covers the legal placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care and to bond with their newly placed child.
MORE ON ADOPTION OR FOSTER CAREBLOOD DONATION LEAVE
With supervisory approval, eligible employees may take time without charge to accruals for blood donation that occurs at or in connection with the campus location within a reasonable amount of time
MORE ON BLOOD DONATION LEAVEBONE MARROW LEAVE
With supervisory approval, RF provides unpaid leave to eligible employees who seek to undergo a medical procedure to donate bone marrow.
MORE ON BONE MARROW LEAVECANCER SCREENING LEAVE
With supervisory approval, employees are entitled to take up to four (4) hours total (not per screening) of paid leave without charge to leave credits annually for the screening of all cancers.
MORE ON CANCER SCREENING LEAVEEXPRESSING BREAST MILK IN THE WORKPLACE
Nursing mothers returning to work are entitled to take unpaid leave for the purpose of expressing breast milk.
MORE ON EXPRESSING BREAST MILK IN THE WORKPLACEFAMILY & MEDICAL LEAVE ACT (FMLA)
Entitles eligible employees to take up to a total of 12 work weeks (26 weeks for military caregiver leave) of unpaid, job-protected leave during a 12-month period for specified family & medical reasonswith continuation of group health insurance coverage.
MORE ON FMLAJURY DUTY
An employee who is required to appear for jury duty or as a subpoenaed or otherwise ordered witness in court, is entitled to leave with pay without charge to leave credits if they are NOT a party to the action.
MORE ON JURY DUTYLEAVE FOR CHILD CARE
Leave for child care is available generally without pay and will be granted to either parent.
MORE ON LEAVE FOR CHILD CARELONG TERM DISABILITY
LTD benefits are paid in full by the RF and begin on the first day following 180 consecutive days of a certified total disability (or when full sick leave payments end, if later) and ensures a monthly income on a long-term basis.
MORE ON LONG TERM DISABILITYMILITARY LEAVE
NY Military Law provides 30 calendar days or 22 workdays of paid leave per calendar year for employees activated for military service.
MORE ON MILITARY LEAVEPAID FAMILY LEAVE (PFL)
PFL provides eligible employees up to 12 weeks (at 67% of your pay up to a cap*) of job-protected, paid time off to bond with a newly born, adopted or foster child, care for a family member with a serious health condition, assist loved ones when a family member is deployed abroad on active military service or, in some situations, when an employee or their minor, dependent child is under an order of quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19.
MORE ON PFLPREGNANCY AS TEMPORARY MEDICAL DISABILITY
NYS defines the period of disability for a pregnancy as up to four (4) weeks before the anticipated date of delivery,through six (6) or eight (8) weeks after delivery (eight (8) weeks after a cesarean section).
MORE ON PREGNANCY AS TEMPORARY MEDICAL DISABILITYSHORT TERM DISABILITY
Provides partial income replacement for up to 26 weeks for an off-the-job illness or injury.
MORE ON SHORT TERM DISABILITYVOTER'S LEAVE LAW
NYS amended the Election Law (April 2020, Chapter 56, Laws of 2020) to allow employees to take up to two (2) hours of paidleave to vote in any election in NYS when the employee does not have sufficient time to vote before or after their work shift.
MORE ON VOTER'S LEAVE LAWWORKERS' COMPENSATION
