Family and Medical Leave Act
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) entitles eligible employees to take up to a total of 12 work weeks (26 weeks for military caregiver leave) of unpaid, job-protected leave during a 12-month period for specified family and medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage. If available, appropriate leave accruals may be used to remain in a paid status.
ELIGIBILITY:
Must be employed by the RF for at least one (1) year and have worked at least 1250 hours over the previous 12 months.
NEXT STEPS:
If you know in advance that you will need FMLA leave, you must give 30-days' advance notice. If it is not possible to give 30-days' notice, you must notify your supervisor as soon as possible. You also need to comply with your normal call-in procedure until FMLA is approved.
