Giving to Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies 

 
You can donate to the department through either planned giving or outright gifts, which often carry special tax incentives. Your donations will help us carry out the department's mission.  
 
Donations 
 
Donations may be made to any of the following funds:
 
1.Women's and Gender Studies Fund for Excellence: The purpose of this fund is to cultivate, sustain, and further excellence in Women's, Gender,  and Sexuality Studies. 

2 Terry Alexander Award:  Every year an undergraduate receives the Terry Alexander Award (up to $1000), honoring the mother of Courtney Alexander, a Women's Studies major who graduated in 2006. Terry was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1982, and worked to raise awareness about the disease until her death in 2006. This award is given annually to a graduating major in Women’s and Gender Studies, who has completed the Gender, Sexuality, and Public Health track, and is interested in a career in health care and/or health advocacy.

3 Vivian Hartog Endowment:

The Vivien Hartog Graduate Student Teaching Award is named in honor of Vivien Hartog, a WST graduate certificate student at Stony Brook who died before she could complete her Ph.D. in Sociology. It is awarded to the graduate student who most exemplifies Vivien’s lifelong commitments to social justice, activism, teaching, and learning. The award is for $3,000.  

The Vivien Hartog Travel Award, is an award that consists of up to three one-time annual travel grants of up to $750 to current PhD and MA students for travel expenses to academic conferences or for dissertation or thesis research.
