Welcome First Year Students!

All new first year students at Stony Brook University will participate in a multi-part orientation. New Seawolf Orientation is required for all new first year students and consists of Seawolf Foundations Online Orientation modules, participation in the advising and registration process with your Undergraduate College or your respective honors program, a small group workshops including Seawolf Connections, a Living on Campus or Commuting to Campus Seawolf Information Session, and New Seawolf Welcome.

Fall Admits
ModulesPart 1, modules 1 through 6, are available May 1, and due June 15. Part 2, modules 7 and 8, are available August 1, and due August 15.

Seawolf Connections

Connect you with your Peer Assistant Leader (PAL) and your new peers throughout the summer. You'll have an opportunity to ask important questions and learn more about your transition into Stony Brook University. You can sign up for a Seawolf Connection in your StartSBU Portal.

New Seawolf Welcome

Gets you acclimated to the University climate, culture, and community. New Seawolf Welcome takes place the week before the the first day of classes. Students who do not attend New Seawolf Welcome will automatically be enrolled in the Required Orientation Makeup Experience (ROME) course in the first few weeks of the semester.

Summer Orientation

New Seawolf Welcome Week

New Seawolf Welcome is geared toward getting you acclimated to Stony Brook University and to introduce you to faculty, staff, and fellow students. Each student has a unique schedule of Assigned Required Workshops. All workshops can be found in SBEngaged, our online platform that houses campus events, organizations & involvement opportunities.

Required Orientation Makeup Experience

Students who do not attend required programs during Wecome Week will be required to participate in the Required Orientation Makeup Experience (ROME). Students participating in ROME must make up the required program information through a series of in person and online assignments.
