Apply to the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program
The VIP Program unites undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty members in multidisciplinary teams to collaborate on long-term projects in research, design, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Before you begin your application, please carefully review the guidelines below to understand team selection, eligibility, and how decisions are made.
Choose a VIP Team
You must apply to a specific project team. Please brown the available teams and choose one before starting your application.
- Before Admission: You can log in and edit your application or change your team selection any time.
- After Admission: Once you are admitted to a team, your application is locked. You cannot make changes or switch teams unless the faculty mentor releases your application.
Status & Notifications
- Submission Status: After submitting, you can view the team’s admissions dashboard to check your status. You will also see the total number of applicants for that team and decisions made in the current application round.
- Decisions: You will receive an email notification as soon as you are accepted or rejected by a team.
- Waitlists: Faculty mentors may hold your application in their pool for a later team. You are not obligated to wait—you can change your application to choose a different team at any time. To determine if you are waitlisted for a team, log into your application portal to check your decision status.
What Are Considered
When reviewing applications, faculty mentors consider the following factors to build well-rounded teams:
- Academic Diversity: Maintaining a balanced mix of different majors on each team.
- Experience Levels: Ensuring a healthy blend of student progress levels (sophomores through graduate students).
- Your Statement of Interest: A 2,000-character max (~300 words) statement explaining your interest in the team and how you can contribute.
