INTERNAL TO SBU TRANSFERS
Waiting periods are usually eliminated if you are transferring one bargaining unit to another unit within SBU so long as there is no break in service.
EXTERNAL TO SBU TRANSFERS
NYS Agency/NYS Employer
Without a break in service
If you are transferring from a NYS Agency/NYS Employer and do not come off payroll for a full pay period during your transition, you will most likely not have a waiting period and will simply transfer over.
With a break in service
If you are transferring from a NYS Agency/NYS Employer and come off payroll, you may have a waiting period.
Participating Agency/Participating Employer
(e.g., MTA, most public schools on Long Island)
If you are transferring from a Participating Agency/Participating Employer you will have a waiting period regardless if you have a break in service or not.
NOT SURE?
Not sure if you are transferring from a Participating Agency/Employer or NY State Agency/Employer? We do not have a record, please check with your previous employer.
