VOTER'S LEAVE LAW
RF and State Employees
NYS amended the Election Law (April 2020, Chapter 56, Laws of 2020) to allow employees to take up to two (2) hours of paid leave to vote in any election in NYS when the employee does not have sufficient time to vote before or after their work shift. This applies to any general election, special election called by the Governor, primary election, or municipal election. For more information, visit Voting Leave Law.
Eligibility
Any employee who has a work schedule where the polls are not open for four (4) consecutive hours before their shift begins or after their shift ends.
Next Steps
The employee must request the time off at least two (2) working days (no more than ten [10] days) before the day of the election.
