HIRING OF SUMMER PROJECT AIDES
ABBREVIATED APPROVALS
To assist you in expediting the hiring of the temporary Summer Project Aide appointment type, Human Resources allows for the Classification and Compensation aspect of our approval process to be satisified by utlizing one of the two Classification and Compensation pre-approved templates within our Talent Management System. CLASSIFICATION
These Research Foundation templates are already filled in with a pre-approved Project Aide title classified position description. If you need to make any changes to these pre-approved position descriptions in the template, the requisition will require a Classification and Compensation review and you may need to consider another title.
COMPENSATION:
These templates are already compensated with the pre-approved compensation range of $16.50-$18.50. If you are planning to request a salary that exceeds this range, the requisition will require a Classification and Compensation review and you may need to consider another title.
STATE FUNDING
As this is an RF program, it is not available for use with state funds.
FRINGE BENEFIT RATE
The fringe benefit rate charged to departments for summer hires, which start and end
within the defined summer period May 1 to September 30 is at a reduced, summer only
rate of 14%.
EXPEDITED STEPS
STEP 1: CREATING/SUBMITTING THE REQUISITION
Select either the - Laboratory OR Office - Summer Project Aide template when first creating the requisition via the Taleo Talent Management System (TMS).
STEP 2: HR'S POSTING OF THE REQUISITION
Once the requisition is finalized, the position will be posted on SBU Jobs for 10 business days.
STEP 3: AFTER THE POSTING
The remainder of the process is consistent with our current recruiting and hiring process for this title.
Pre-Employment Background Checks:
Pre-employment background checks will be processed for selected candidates.

SUMMER PROJECT AIDE — LABORATORY — TEMPLATE
As this is a generic position description, please DO NOT make any changes. If you would like, you can briefly describe the project itself under the Brief Description of Duties section.
Required Qualifications:
Positions are established to accomplish necessary routine work for the project often in coordination with on-the-job training for employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal education courses relating to work or some experience and/or exposure to a social science laboratory environment.
Brief Description of Duties:
The successful incumbent must be responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and in a team setting.
The Summer Project Aide (Laboratory) will:
Essential Duties:
95% Assist with laboratory preparation and set-up, document preparation, and clean up.
5% (Non Essential) Duties: As assigned.
SUMMER PROJECT AIDE — OFFICE — TEMPLATE

The successful incumbent must be responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and in a team setting.
The Summer Project Aide (Office) will:
Essential Duties:
20% File papers.
20% Assemble documents.
20% Prepare forms.
20% Copy documentation.
15% Data entry.
5% (Non Essential) Other Duties: As assigned.
