The unlawful use, possession, manufacture, dispensation, or distribution of a controlled substance* in all Stony Brook University work locations is prohibited.
Employees who unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess or use a controlled substance will be subject to disciplinary procedures consistent with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements. Penalties sought may include termination.
Any illegal activity involving drugs or alcohol on the campus grounds is considered misconduct.
Employees must notify their supervisor of any criminal drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the workplace or at a worksite no later than 5 days after the conviction.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available for any employee who wishes to seek confidential assistance in dealing with drug and/or alcohol related problems. Please call EAP at (631) 632-6085 for information.
