The overall mission of the TOD unit is to provide opportunities to enhance the skills, knowledge, and professional development of our faculty and staff. The re-introduction of training to the campus is part of the HR Now initiative and is also one of the key objectives of the University’s strategic plan…. Growing and Recognizing Our People to foster a culture of innovation and performance excellence, expand professional development opportunities, and create capacity for our staff and faculty to thrive.

PHASE 3 - What's Completed

Implementation Phase Achievements

In-person New Employee Orientation began in January 2024. Classes are held bi-weekly at the Wang Center. To date over 850 new team members have been trained.

Between January and June 2024, Training and Organizational Development created and delivered five customized training modules for team building, effective communication, difficult conversations, change management 101, performance review preparation in collaboration with counseling and discipline training with Labor Relations and State Appointments.

In the Fall of 2024, Training and Organizational Development piloted a ten-course Supervisor Success: Tools and Techniques for Effective Management training series for those new to supervision or looking to become supervisors.  Topics included coaching and feedback, active listening and empathy, difficult conversations, time management, motivating and engaging a team, and supervisor wellness.  The series was in tremendous demand, and we are looking to continue it in the future.
