TWO MAIN TYPES OF EXAMINATIONS

OPEN-COMPETITIVE - open to all qualified individuals who meet the minimum qualifications for the job.
PROMOTION/TRANSITION - open to all qualified individuals already employed by New York State.

The type of test to be used will be specified under "Subject of Examination" on the examination announcement. Most examinations are held periodically. Some examinations are held continuously, with applications accepted anytime. For more information see below or go to Working in State Government

Plant Utilities Engineer 1 and/or Plant Utilities Assistant

How to Apply

To be considered for these positions, candidate must have a reachable score on the Plant Utilities Engineer 1 and/or Plant Utilities Assistant 1 decentralized exam list.

In addition to submitting an electronic application, please complete and submit an Application for NYS Examinations and Supplemental Questionnaire.

There will be no written test as the score is rated on education and experience. The NYS Examinations and Supplemental Questionnaire (NYS APP 3) is your test.
