INDUSTRIAL RADIOGRAPHY PERMITS

All Industrial Radiography work requires an approval from the Radiation Safety Office prior to beginning work on East or West campus. To request a permit the contractor must complete and submit an Industrial Radiography Work Permit Request.


Provide the following documentation with this work permit request: 

  • Copy of valid X-ray registration or radioactive materials license
  • Copy of NYS reciprocity if the IR firm is from out of state
  • Credential documents of all industrial radiographers that will work at Stony Brook during the work date range

In all emergencies, except very minor spills of radioactive materials, contact:

  • Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. call Radiation Safety at (631) 632-6410
  • After hours, call University Police by dialing 333 if using an on-campus phone, and dialing (631) 632- 3333 if using a cell phone or an off-campus phone. Have University Police page the University Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
