    About the Program

For Stony Brook University Students Only

SBU partner programs in China are designed for language/cultural immersion studies. Peking University has shared that courses in regular subjects might be possible, but taking courses in regular academic subjects (instructed in English or Chinese) may be limited.

Students that would like to take courses in regular academic subjects that are instructed in Chinese must prove their Chinese language ability. After nomination, the host university will inform students about how they can prove their language ability. Enrollment to specific courses (in English or Chinese) is not guaranteed so students must have a flexible study plan. In general, students should have Chinese language ability to communicate effectively for everyday situations (1-2 semesters of Chinese language learning completed at the point of application). Since direct enrollment into their regular courses is not facilitated or guaranteed, students should plan to study Chinese language and topics such as Chinese history and culture. Students must not hold Chinese citizenship/nationality.

Peking University is situated in Haidian District in the western suburb of Beijing. Intensive language study program is possible at all levels. Courses instructed in Chinese include Culture, History, Language Study, Literature, Engineering, Fine Arts, Humanities, Natural and Physical Sciences.
