Main Gym
The gymnasium, located on the first floor as soon as you enter the building, is a 20,000 sq. ft. space used by student organizations, Intramurals, campus partners, Sport Clubs, and open recreation. It features three full collegiate-sized basketball courts, three full-sized volleyball courts, and three full-sized badminton courts, with two curtains to separate the court areas. Additional amenities include electronic scoreboards, padded seating areas, and a PA system.
Free Weights
The free weight area, located on the ground floor to the right as you pass through the turnstiles, spans 4,000 sq. ft. and features a variety of strength equipment, including platforms, plate-loaded machines, select cable machines, dumbbells, barbells, and competition benches.
Cardio
The cardio deck, located on the second floor and accessible by stair or elevator, spans 11,700 sq. ft. and offers a variety of exercise equipment for all fitness levels. It includes standard treadmills, ellipticals, and stair climbers, along with specialized Alpine Runner and Woodway treadmills, Peloton bikes, recumbent bikes, and rowers. The space also features a functional gym area with a boxing bag, kettlebells, slam bags, and weighted logs, selectorized cable circuits, multiple stretching areas, and select accessible pieces of equipment.
Studios
The Walter J. Hawrys Recreation Center has three group fitness studios, one on the first floor and two above it on the second floor. Used for group fitness classes, sport clubs, and campus organizations, they range from 1,200 to 2,150 sq. ft. Studio 216 hosts most Pink Gloves Boxing classes, while Studio 211 is primarily for spin and TRX strength classes with blacklights. All studios feature a PA system with Bluetooth, storage cubbies, and mirrors.
Mac Court
The Multi-Activity Court (MAC) is a 10,000 sq. ft. space on the lower level with a rubberized epoxy floor, used for sport clubs, intramurals, Athletics, and open recreation. It features a full and half basketball court with a divider curtain, five pickleball courts, four badminton courts, and space for volleyball, indoor soccer, and floor hockey, along with a team bench, penalty box, scoreboards, and a PA system.
Indoor Track
Located on the second floor of the Main Gym, the indoor track is a versatile space for walking, running, warming up, or stretching. It features a 3-lane track (1/10 mile per lap), locker and storage space, and equipment including kettlebells, weight bars, and stretching pads.
BEYOND THE REC
Pool
Owned by Athletics, the pool is available for open swim hours provided by Recreation and Wellness. It is also used by the club swim team and for special events with campus partners. The facility features six lanes, a half-Olympic-size pool, a viewing deck, and men's and women's locker rooms.
Multi-Purpose Room
Located on the first floor near the rear of the building, this 1,400 sq. ft. space is used by clubs, organizations, campus partners, and Sport Clubs for a variety of activities and events. The room includes a TV, speakers, AV hookups, tables, chairs, mirrors, and the ability to be split into two spaces.
South P Field Complex
This 25-acre facility, located near Lot 40, serves Sport Clubs, open recreation, campus organizations, faculty, staff, and community rentals. It includes three main field areas: a turf field lined for soccer, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, and field hockey; a dedicated rugby pitch; and 11 grass fields of varying sizes, six of which are lit. Additional amenities include bleachers for fans at the turf and rugby fields and a Sport Club team locker room for home competitions.
