Chapter AwardsExcellence in Academic Achievement Scholarship is the cornerstone of both Stony Brook University and the fraternal community. This award recognizes a chapter for their outstanding commitment to scholarship and is awarded to the chapter with the highest overall GPA. 2022 Winner:Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity Excellence in Campus Involvement This award is given to an organization who has members heavily involved in campus life. 2022 Winner: Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated This award is given to a chapter to recognize outstanding efforts in its service related and/or
philanthropic endeavors. 2022 Winner: Sigma Psi Zeta Outstanding Chapter Management This award recognizes a chapter that has excelled in balancing the many facets that go into a
fraternal organization. 2022 Winner: Sigma Delta Tau This award is given to the chapter that has made significant strides in all areas
of their development. 2022 Winner: Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority Inc This award recognizes a chapter of excellence in all of the following areas: Academic Excellence, Member Education, Leadership Development, Chapter Management, and Inter-Fraternal Relations. Program AwardsThese awards honor the chapters who have excelled in creating successful, unique programming in the various aspects of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Innovative Program for Helping Others This award recognizes one community service or philanthropic program held by a fraternity or sorority that promotes civic engagement and encourages selfless acts of service. 2022 Winner: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Innovative Program for Diversity & Multicultural Awareness This award recognizes a creative program held by a fraternity or sorority that promotes diversity and multicultural awareness. 2022 Winner: Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated, "Greek Life 101" Innovative Program for Health & Wellness This award recognizes a creative program held by a fraternity or sorority that promotes overall positive wellness for its members. 2022 Winner: Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc, "Work Hard Play Hard Sigma Week" Program of the Year This award celebrates a program hosted by a recognized organization that was the most impactful. 2022 Winner:Sigma Delta Tau, "Kardio for Kidz" |
Individual AwardsOutstanding Scholarship Award This award is presented to a member who excels academically and serves as a role model for their organization through their academic involvement while maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. 2022 Winner: Julia Brandenstein, Theta Phi Alpha Tasheka S. Sutton Spirit Award This award is presented to an individual who promotes fraternity and sorority life and inspires others to live their lives by the values of the fraternity and sorority community. 2022 Winner: Sherin Samuel, Sigma Delta Tau Hyperion Awards The Hyperion Award is presented annually to members who have made a significant impact upon the fraternity and sorority community during their collegiate career through exhibiting excellence within their chapters and contributing to the Stony Brook community. We view this award as an excellent opportunity to recognize the students for their dedication and efforts toward incorporating positive change in their organization, the fraternity and sorority life community, and/or the campus at large. 2022 Winners: Dorothy Calapis-Sigma Iota Sigma, Inc. Advisor of the Year This award is given to a faculty/staff or national advisor who goes above and beyond in their role 2022 Winner: Jodi Romano, Sigma Delta Thau Friend of Fraternity and Sorority Life This award is given to individuals or offices at the University who go above and beyond to support our fraternities and sororities. 2022 Winners: Unity Watts- Associate Director for Apartments and Suites Residential Education Steven Torres Emerging Leader Award This award recognizes students who have shown outstanding potential in the areas of leadership and inter-fraternalism. 2022 Winners: Ashley Coronado-Simon- Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc Karen Xu- Alpha Kappa Delta Phi International Sorority, Inc. Imera Reyes- Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. Maggie Liang- Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. Rida Jamal- Sigma Delta Tau Outstanding Council Leader Award This award honors an individual who serves on a council executive board that has gone above and beyond their role. 2022 Winner: Tania Thomas- Inter-Fraternity and Sorority Council Executive Board Member of the Year This award recognizes chapter leaders (excluding President) who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help better their organizations. 2022 Winner: Christopher Battista- Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity & Sorority Leader of the Year This award is given to a student leader who has made significant contributions to Stony Brook University Fraternity & Sorority community during this year and their overall time at Stony Brook. The fraternity and sorority leader of the year demonstrates teamwork, and the ability to inspire and encourage their peers.
