What is Green Dot?
- Green Dot is a strategy for preventing forms of power-based personal violence, such as rape and sexual assault, relationship violence, harassment, and stalking.
- Green Dot participants learn how to recognize risky or potentially violent situations and practice skills and strategies for intervening to prevent or address what's happening.
How can I get involved?
There are a few different ways to get involved in Green Dot at SBU:
Attend a training!- Green Dot Bystander Intervention training is a full day (8 hour) comprehensive, interactive skill-building experience that prepares participants to deal with real life situations. Training is offered once a month on Saturdays.
- Register here for an upcoming training!
- Hear what previous participants have to say about their Green Dot training experience.
Attend an overview presentation!
- Brief, one-hour Green Dot overview sessions are scheduled as part of our campus VIP (Violence Intervention and Prevention) workshops. These interactive overview sessions are typically led by VIP peer educators, and review the basics of the Green Dot strategy along with activities to help participants grasp the concepts and start putting them into action.
