Willam T. Grant Scholars Program

This is a canvass to determine whether an internal competition will be necessary for this limited submission program. If you are interested in applying to this program, you must notify OPD by submitting the internal competitions form. Pre-applications are not yet required.

The William T. Grant Scholars Program supports career development for promising early-career researchers by funding five-year research and mentoring plans that significantly expand researchers’ expertise in new disciplines, methods, and content areas. Stony Brook University may nominate ONE candidate from each school/college for the program.

WHAT DOES IT FUND: Proposed research plans must address questions that are relevant to policy and practice in one of the Foundation’s two focus areas: 1) Reducing inequality in youth outcomes, and 2) Improving the use of research evidence in decisions that affect young people.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must have received their terminal degree within seven years of submitting their application (calculated by adding seven years to the date the doctoral degree was conferred). In medicine, the seven-year maximum is dated from the completion of the first residency.
  • Applicants must be employed in career-ladder position (i.e., holding a tenure-track position at SBU).

AWARD: Up to $350,000 over 5 years.

SPONSOR DEADLINE: Mentor and Reference Letter deadline is June 16, 2021. Application deadline is July 7, 2021.
