Undergraduate Academic Excellence and Outstanding Achievement Award Nominations

To All Faculty, Staff, and Students:

We seek nominations for the Undergraduate Excellence and Outstanding Achievement Annual Ceremony. This ceremony provides an opportunity to honor the outstanding accomplishments of our undergraduate students and the faculty and staff who mentor them.

Awards for Academic Excellence are given for academic accomplishments that go beyond the classroom experience. Awards for Outstanding Achievement are presented for excellence in three subcategories: Athletics, Leadership, or Community Service.

Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria:

  • Eligible students must be matriculated, have completed at least two semesters at Stony Brook, and be enrolled in at least nine credits.

  • Faculty, staff, or graduate students may nominate students. Students will be notified once a nomination is submitted and must complete a student submission form and attach a copy of their resume to be considered for an award.

  • A selection committee comprised of members of the University community will review the nominations and select recipients.

  • Letters of reference play the most significant role in informing the committee’s decision. References should describe in detail how the student’s accomplishments are exceptional.

  • Previous winners may be recognized, but the recognition must be for new achievements.

  • Nomination materials must be received no later than Monday, February 10, 2020.

For more information and the link to the nomination form, please  visit the awards web page

The University’s 37th Undergraduate Excellence and Outstanding Achievement Annual Ceremony will be held on Monday, April 20, 2020, at 7 p.m. in the Student Activities Center’s Sidney Gelber Auditorium.

Thank you for identifying this year’s outstanding students. I look forward to seeing you in April to celebrate their achievements.

Michael A. Bernstein, Ph.D.
