Stony Brook Southampton Campus
Think of it as a residency with workshops.
It's quiet. It's beautiful. Live on campus, write all day, walk down to classes, write all night.
If you're looking to get away from distractions and focus on writing, there is no better place than Stony Brook Southampton. Primarily a graduate campus with none of the hoopla of an undergraduate one, you won't find football games and pep rallies. You'll find 64 acres with very little to pull you away from the page.
Find inspiration at the local beaches, in the historic villages, and through the thriving arts scene on the South Fork of Long Island.
Radio Lounge
A midcentury modern lounge for the 21st century writer. A private lounge exclusively for the Lichtenstein Center. You'll often find students writing, meeting up before class or catching up after. Creative Writing students have access any time the building is open.
Missy's Place
Built in honor of late faculty member Melissa Bank, Missy's Place is a gorgeous rooftop patio off the Radio Lounge. Designed to be a flexible space, imagine relaxing and reading in the warm sun. When the weather's just right, you might even workshop at Missy's place. No matter what you do, you'll find inspiration and peace on this rooftop oasis.
Rakoff Studio
Picture yourself at the mic reading your work to faculty and friends during our semesterly student readings. Named after late faculty member David Rakoff, the black box studio is the home of our Writers Speak Southampton reading series. But it’s versatile enough for staged readings, screenings, or any other ideas students have in mind.
Southampton VillageQuaint, historic Southampton Village is just a few miles from campus. With beautiful shops and restaurants, it's a great spot for grabbing lunch. |
