Meet AIChE!

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Stony Brook student chapter, chartered in 2009, is an academically driven organization dedicated to providing students with opportunities to engage with industry leaders, research professionals, and peers. In addition to fostering professional networks, we host a variety of social events throughout the year. While the chapter is open to all students, those enrolled in the Chemical and Molecular Engineering (CME) program will find the greatest benefit. Our mission is to guide students in exploring potential career paths and to support their professional development. We offer a diverse range of activities to cater to the interests of our members.

MISSON

The purpose of the Stony Brook chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is to expand the understanding of the opportunities offered in Chemical Engineering, to unify the interest in the program and to promote discussion of careers and opportunities available through the Chemical & Molecular Engineering program at Stony Brook.

GENERAL BODY MEETING

GBMs for Spring 2025: Thursdays 7-8:30pm

Come learn more about AIChE, fun and exciting events the club is planning, and meet other students passionate about chemical and molecular engineering!

AIChE EVENTS

AIChE hosts a variety of events each semester. Fall semester events include Careers in Chemical Engineering, and members attedning the National Conference.

In the Spring semester, AIChe traditionally puts on events like Engineering in the Kitchen and memebers attend the Regional Conference to network, compete in competitons like Chem-E-Car and presenting research.

Follow AIChE on Instagram to learn more about what events are happening during the semester!

CHEM-E-CAR

Chem-E-Car is a student led project team with the goal of designing and constructing a car that is fueled by and stopped by chemical reactions. During competition day, a distance and payload is given by which the car must be able to start, move, and stop at the given distance without any outside assistance. Regional and annual competitions are held at corresponding regional and national AIChE Student Conferences and provide students an opportunity to apply chemical engineering knowledge in a team-oriented project environment.

Each year, AIChE designs and constructs a ChemE-Car to compete, with high-performing teams advancing to national events, and also participates in ChemE-Sports, a process simulation competition, and ChemE-Jeopardy, which tests knowledge in chemical engineering trivia.
