Soraya Zabihi
Director of Research and Assessment
Soraya Zabihi provides direct support to faculty and graduate students in the College seeking grants, fellowships, and research opportunities. Soraya acts as the Arts and Sciences liaison with OVPR to identify and develop funding opportunities for all CAS departments, centers, and institutes and assists in all administrative aspects of proposal development. She also supports College-planning initiatives through the compilation and maintenance of departmental data. An alumna of Stony Brook, Soraya holds a Master’s of Science in Management and Policy and has 20 years of research experience in both the public and private sectors.
In the Dean's Office, Soraya provides comprehensive support to faculty, students and departments throughout the full lifecycle of scholarly research projects. This includes identifying funding opportunities through PIVOT and targeted searches, sharing timely funding announcements, facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations, reviewing solicitation guidelines, advising on required documents, assisting with budgets and cost-share requests, coordinating with University offices, supporting proposal systems, and offering feedback on unfunded proposals. Soraya provides procedural guidance, coordinates with relevant offices, and supports award logistics as needed.
