ROTC

ARMY ROTC

The Hofstra Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Culper Battalion qualifies students for appointment as a commissioned officer in the United States Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard. Students attend Military Science classes as part of their regular course of study. Stony Brook University serves as an official extension school for Hofstra ROTC Culper Battalion. Cadets can either go to Hofstra University or Stony Brook University to attend physical training, classes, and labs while attending their regular classes at their respective universities.

AIR FORCE ROTC (AFROTC)

As a full-time student at Stony Brook University, you can take your AFROTC classes at Manhattan College. Manhattan College offers Air Force ROTC classes and Leadership Laboratory on Friday, making it convenient for college students across the New York City Area to attend Manhattan College only once a week. AFROTC offers both three and four-year commissioning programs, each with its own unique advantages. Students interested in joining the program should have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, a 1000+ SAT (Math/Verbal only), be physically fit, and meet Air Force height/weight standards.
