Respect Diversity and Foster Inclusiveness (DIV)

A strong and productive community requires individuals who can respect, embrace, and strive to understand the diverse backgrounds of each member.  The Stony Brook curriculum provides opportunities for discussion of our human and cultural differences and encourages students to become more inclusive by viewing society through different lenses, shaped by perspectives that include but are not limited to race, ethnicity, immigration status, age, gender, religion, veteran status, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation and varying abilities. The goal is to not only highlight, respect, and understand our differences, but also to discover and reveal our similarities and common goals.
