Biography

My name is Casey McKenna and I am currently a first year undergraduate student studying physics at Stony Brook University. I grew up in Deer Park, New York, not far from Stony Brook, and attended Deer Park High School. My first physics experience came in the AP Physics course I took in 11th grade, taught by Mr. Sundermier. While the concepts of mechanics were difficult for me to grasp at first, I persevered and gained an appreciation for them -- I was only able to truly understand them after hard work and practice. My teacher showed me that physics problems weren't just a collection of numbers or word problems, but a beautiful description of the physical world. I decided to study physics because, to me, it is the most important subject to study: physics is everything. I hope that my experiences at Stony Brook University will help me not only continue my career in physics, but lift it to new heights.
