Smita Majumdar Das leads Stony Brook’s Center for Prevention and Outreach, an office dedicated to provide prevention, early intervention, education and outreach services on major public health concerns impacting college students, including but not limited to, substance abuse, mental health/suicide prevention, sexual/interpersonal violence and health education. She has authored several federal, state and private grants approximating $2.1 million to strengthen data-informed prevention strategies to reduce risks and enhance protective factors to support students’ well-being. She is a clinical psychologist with expertise in trauma-informed care and provides oversight to the Survivor Advocate on campus.
