Biography
Dr. Benz Scott oversees the academic public health programs at Stony Brook University (MPH, MHA, PhD in Population Health and Clinical Outcomes Research, MS in Epidemiology and Clinical Outcomes Research) to train a diverse and highly prepared public health and health care management workforce, as well as the next generation of public health scientists with the skills and passion to conduct impactful research. She supervises a diverse expert faculty of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, behavioral and social scientists who are dedicated to excellence in population health research, teaching, and service to promote improvements in the health of all people – locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.
Beyond her work at Stony Brook, Dr. Benz Scott currently volunteers to serve on the Long Island Board of Directors of the American Heart Association with an emphasis on community impact initiatives that promote their mission as a relentless force for heart disease and stroke prevention. She is also an elected member of the Board of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) the voice of academic public health nationally.
