Biography
Professor McSweeney is a coastal physical oceanographer studying the dynamics that drive circulation and transport in nearshore environments, such as estuaries and the inner shelf. An important aspect of her research involves teasing apart signals that are influenced by multiple processes occurring on similar spatial and temporal scales. This often entails the collection of new, in situ observations through mooring operations, shipboard surveys, and underwater gliders. Jack’s research informs several time-sensitive, coastal management topics of economical and societal importance, including coastal sediment management, offshore wind development, and shifting habitat.
