Biography
Gary Sherman’s area of expertise is social hierarchy and its role in the inner workings of groups and organizations. The specific topics he explores include the various forms and bases of social hierarchy (e.g., power, status, moral standing); the factors and processes that create and sustain hierarchy (e.g., social evaluation, status seeking, competition); and how social hierarchies and the conditions they create impact the thoughts, actions, and biology of the individuals embedded within them.
