Biography

Owen Rambow is an expert in natural language processing and computational linguistics. His research interests include theoretical issues and more applied questions.  He has done research on formal representations of syntax and how to parse with such representations, on the way in which we use language in email exchanges and how that language is affected by power relations and gender, and on natural language generation, i.e., how machines can be used to compose coherent multi-sentential text.  He has done extensive work on natural language processing for Arabic, including developing annotated corpora and morphological taggers for Arabic and its dialects.
