Biography
Dr. Harmand is an expert in Early Stone Age archaeology. She has conducted fieldwork for over 20 years, in France, Syria, Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Kenya. In 2011, her field expedition in Kenya yielded the earliest archaeological site known, dated at 3.3 million years. In addition to her research in the origins of hominin technology, Dr. Harmand is exploring the biomechanics involved in the making and possible use of stone tools. She is also currently collaborating with primate archaeologists to build models for hominin behavioral evolution.
