Biography
Christine Gilbert holds a joint appointment at the School of Communication and Journalism/Alda Center and the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences.
Her research focuses on how people - across gender, political ideology, socioeconomic status and media habits - respond to risks and challenges related to climate change and extreme weather events.
She has published papers in the "Journal of Emergency Management, Risk Analysis," "Environmental Communication" and the "Atlantic Journal of Communication," among others. She has worked on research projects funded by the National Science Foundation and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. She holds a PhD from the University of Connecticut.
