Biography:

In Farah’s time at Stony Brook, they plan on studying neuroscience with a focus on molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, cellular senescence, and the neural circuitry of facial expression. In Farah’s free time, they like to bake, go bike riding, take walks, binge-watch shows, and read romance novels. Before becoming a Simons STEM Scholar, Farah participated in the Brookhaven National Laboratory High School Research Program.

"I envision myself leading the future of STEM by staying curious, pushing boundaries through research, and working with others to find creative solutions that move science forward."

Why did you become a Simons STEM Scholar?:

"I chose to become a Simons STEM Scholar because I wanted to be part of a community that values curiosity, collaboration, and supports students who are passionate about research and making a difference through science."

What would you say to someone who is applying?:

"I’d say go for it! This program opens doors to amazing research opportunities, supportive mentors, and a community of people who genuinely want to see you grow as a scientist and as a person."
