Biography:

Nia plans on studying cancer cells, cell development, spreading, and treatment in their time at Stony Brook. In their free time, Nia likes to read, hang out with friends and family, and exercise. Before becoming a Simons STEM Scholar, Nia participated in Harvard Med-Science Summer Program. Nia is most excited about exploring and discovering themself, the numerous research opportunities and establishing a strong foundation before entering into a M.D./PhD program.

Leading the Future:

“I want to research and explore alternative pathways, other than chemotherapy, for cancer treatment, that have less harsh side effects.”

Why did you become a Simons STEM Scholar?:

“The welcoming and caring staff, the emphasis on community and connections between scholars and staff members, and the amazing STEM opportunities I may be presented with.”

What would you say to someone who is applying?:

“Go for it! Simons STEM Scholars is, by far, the most amazing opportunity I have been presented with. It will provide you with the ability to excel academically, while also connecting with other scholars with similar goals and aspirations.”
