Biography:

Ailyn plans on studying neurobiology in their time at Stony Brook. In their free time, Ailyn likes to do digital art, bake, and build Legos. Before becoming a Simons STEM Scholar, Ailyn participated in the Pioneer Research Program (Neuroscience concentration) and the Brentwood Legion Medical Explorers Program. Ailyn is most excited about seeing their personal growth and development as they start a four-year chapter.

Leading the Future:

“A global challenge in STEM that I envision being a leader in  solving is working to resolve the issue of the large demographic of individuals in developing countries unable to receive proper medical treatment and proper education in the field due to lack of resources and awareness.” 

Why did you become a Simons STEM Scholar?:

“I chose to become a Simon STEM Scholar to show that I am more than what history perceives me as. I am here to make a difference not only in myself, but in those around me as well. ”

What would you say to someone who is applying?:

“Make sure you work well under pressure and enjoy a good challenge!”
