2026 NSF CAREER AWARD WORKSHOP SERIES


The Office of Proposal Development (OPD) is pleased to present the 2026 NSF CAREER Award Workshop Series. This virtual workshop series is designed to assist early-career faculty in developing competitive proposals for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER), due July 22, 2026.  In addition to the workshops, OPD is offering a suite of services to provide individualized proposal development support.  Details are provided below:

WORKSHOPS:

NSF CAREER Kickoff
When:  Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 10 am to 11 am
An overview of the NSF CAREER proposal process, including sponsor and internal requirements. Presented by OPD and the Office of Sponsored Programs.


Write Winning NSF CAREER Proposals Workshop*
When:  Friday, March 6, 2026 at 9 am to 12:30 pm and Monday, March 9, 2026 at 9 am to 12:30 pm
*Space is limited
If you are a tenure-track early-career faculty member or researcher planning to pursue an NSF CAREER award, this is a must-attend, two-part virtual workshop focused on building competitive, compelling CAREER proposals and strengthening your extramural funding strategy. 

Led by Dr. John D. Robertson of Grant Writers Seminars & Workshops, LLC, this workshop covers both conceptual and practical elements of successful NSF proposal writing. Participants will gain insider insight into the NSF review process and learn strategies for developing a compelling research vision, crafting impactful education and broader impacts plans, and writing effectively for both assigned and non-assigned reviewers.

Educational and Outreach Partners Workshop

When: Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 11 am to 12:30 pm   
An opportunity to meet outreach partners from across campus. Representatives will provide an overview of their services and collaboration opportunities, followed by time for questions and discussion.

Meet and Greet with Past Awardees
When: Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 10 am to 11:30 am
Hear from past CAREER award recipients about their experiences with the proposal process and lessons learned.

Evaluation Plan Workshop

When:  Monday, May 11, 2026 at 2 pm to 3 pm
Learn how to develop an evaluation plan for the educational activities required in an NSF CAREER proposal. Presented by the Office of Educational Effectiveness.
