Join an exciting program designed for high school students interested in exploring the field of dentistry.
This course provides the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in our advanced preclinical laboratory as well as discover what it's like to be a dental student.
You will also watch demonstrations in the state-of-the-art Center for Implant and Dental Technology (CIDT) and learn about the Scholars for Dental Medicine Program, which offers selected undergraduate students an opportunity to complete a combined Bachelor’s/DDS course of study.

Experiential Learning
Pre-College Summer students will spend a week engaging in hand-on learning activities including:
- Using high-speed dental handpiece and other dental instruments
- Preparing cavity restorations
- Creating of typodont impressions and stone models
- Fabricating mouth (athletic) guards
- Modeling of a central incisor in wax
- Learning banana suturing
In addition, students will tour Dental School, attend demonstrations in the Center for Impant and Dental Technology (CID), participate in an information session on the Scholars for Dental Medicine program, and enjoy lunch with current dental students, faculty, and administration.

Jeffey Seiver, DDS
Dr. Jeffrey Seiver is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of General Dentistry at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Seiver is the director for the second-year dental student clinic, interim director for Practice Management, and director for Discover Dental School Summer Scholar Program.
Driven by his passion for education, patient care, and advancing the field of dentistry, Dr. Jeffrey Seiver continues to contribute significantly to the dental community through teaching and leadership roles.
