DEPARTMENT PARKING PASSES

As we upgrade our parking systems with new license plate recognition technology, access to the Administration Garage is changing. Departments now have multiple options to validate parking for guests. 

Option 1: Validation Code (Replaces Stickers)

First, register your Department.

  • Step 1: Complete the Admin Garage Validation Form which will create a parking account for the department. The point of contact listed on the form will receive account information which can then be used to order parking validation codes (see below).  
  • Step 2: Return all unused parking stickers to the Parking Services office on the 2nd floor of the Student Union, or contact parking@stonybrook.edu to arrange for a pick up of your area’s stickers.
  • Upon drop off/pick up of the stickers, your account will be credited with new validation codes.


Next, decide whether your area will utilize reusable or single-use codes. 

  • Reusable Code: One code will be assigned to your Department which can be used by multiple guests when paying for their parking at a pay station.
  • Single-Use Code: Your Department will be given multiple, single-use codes that you will assign for guests to use when paying for their parking at a pay station.
  • Select which type of code (reusable or single-use) your Department will use on the Validation Code Request Form
  • Once your Department has registered, returned unused parking stickers, and confirmed which type of code you will utilize, the Department will be billed monthly through a journal transfer based on code usage. 

Option 2: Guest Permits

First, register your Department.

  • Step 1: Complete the Admin Garage Validation Form which will create a parking account for the department. The point of contact listed on the form will receive account information to log onto the parking portal.


Begin assigning guest permits to visitors.  

  • Send Guests a Validation Link: Department account managers can send guests a parking validation link prior to their visit for guests to register their license plate ahead of time.
  • Register Guests: Alternatively, Department account managers may register their guests’ license plate numbers directly in the parking portal (must be done prior to the vehicle’s arrival on campus).
  • Regardless of which guest permit method is used, upon arrival at the Admin Garage, license plate recognition will verify the guest’s license plate. Guests will park and do not need to visit a pay station.
  • Once your Department has registered, you will be billed monthly through a journal transfer based on the number of guest permits used.
