Interests: Twentieth-century U.S., Asian-American history, cultural history, women

In addition to my position in the History Department, I'm an affiliate faculty in Women and Gender Studies, Asian and Asian American Studies, and Africana Studies. I have held a research fellowship at Australian National University (2010). My first book was A Feeling of Belonging: Asian American Women’s Public Culture, 1930–1960 (NYU Press, 2006). My second book, Anna May Wong: Performing the Modern (2019) has been recently published by Temple University Press.
