Tuition and Fee Scholarships
The University will provide scholarships to cover the broad-based fees for Graduate Tuition Scholarship(GTS) recipients. For information regarding the Graduate Tuition Scholarship (GTS) policy, please visit:
- The fee scholarship includes coverage for Counseling and Health, Technology, Transportation, Lifetime Career Development, Academic Excellence, and College Fee. The extent of the fee scholarship will be directly linked to your Graduate Tuition Scholarship (GTS) proportion. For additional fee details, please Student Financial Services.
-
There is no application process for the fee scholarship that accompanies the graduate tuition scholarship. However, as is the case with the GTS, supported students must be registered full-time according to G-level by Day 15 of classes in order to remain eligible. Over-enrollment may result in financial liability for the student.
-
The Fee scholarships will be reflected at the same time as your GTS. The posting of awards as anticipated aid is a multi-step process involving several offices. Process-flow improvements will enable these offices to post awards quickly, however students should expect to see their awards posted several business days after their Graduate Tuition Scholarship eligibility has been communicated to the Graduate Finance and Administration Team.
- Payment of remaining charges is due by the due date on the Billing Notification Email which is sent to your @stonybrook.edu email address. As a courtesy, Graduate Students are exempt from the first three late fees of the semester. For Fall, those are the August, September, and October late fees. For Spring, those are the February, March, and April late fees.
-
Graduate broad-based fee scholarships will be provided in the summer for those students who register (typically for zero credits) and received a fee scholarship in the preceding Spring term. It is important to note that Graduate Tuition Scholarships are only offered in the fall and spring semesters as summer registration beyond zero (0) credits is not required. Therefore, supported students who register for 1 credit or more during summer will have tuition liability.

For questions regarding the charges on student bill, other aid was reduced after the tuition and fee scholarships were updated on student's account and if student has loans in addition to the GTS and fee scholarships will recieve refund? Please contact Student Financial Services.
