Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Clinical Instructor

Required Qualifications

Physician Assistant: NYS license and certification as a Physician assistant. Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of Physician Assistants.

Nurse Practitioner: NYS license and certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Master's degree in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner.

Preferred Qualifications

At least one year clinical experience working as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Experience working in the following clinical areas: surgery, emergency medicine, critical care and intensive care. Experience working in a Stony Brook Medicine outpatient setting.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Responsible for patient care, as well as teaching medical students, residents, fellows, as well as students from other healthcare professions. This position serves as a health care professional who, under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides health care to patients.

Duties include:

Perform clinical evaluations of patients which may involve histories, physical examinations and laboratory testing.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Counsel and advise patients and families.
Responsible for the education of patients and their families, as well as the general public.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: May 1, 2018.
