The Department of Anatomical Sciences at Stony Brook University School of Medicine invites applicants for a faculty position teaching gross anatomy to health care professional students. This is a renewable, full time, non-tenured appointment on a medical educator track at the academic rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants must have a PhD and experience in dissection-based human anatomy. The successful applicant must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and preference will be given to those with prior experience teaching anatomy to health care professional students. Of particular interest are the candidates capable of adapting and applying new communication and technology tools to best meet the anatomical education needs of students in medicine, dentistry, and the broader health sciences. Applicants must have a strong commitment to research/scholarship in medical education (e.g. innovative teaching methods, curriculum development with technology), in addition to the candidates area of research expertise. Many opportunities exist for collaboration with the department's current faculty and postdoctoral instructors (with expertise in functional morphology, evolutionary morphology, comparative anatomy, phylogenetics, and medical imaging), as well as with other basic science and clinical faculty at Stony Brook Medicine and the broader university community. Special Notes
This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: 5/15/2019.
