Nicholas J. Ullrich III

Nicholas Ullrich currently teaches Human Development at Stony Brook University. He completed his undergraduate studies at St. Joseph’s College, where he received a Bachelors of Arts as a dual major in Child Studies and Psychology. Nicholas received his master's in psychology from Stony Brook in 2013 and is currently working on his doctoral degree in Educational Psychology at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City. His research interests focus on improving social competence and reading comprehension in children on the Autism Spectrum.
Nicholas holds initial certification in both general and special education, birth through sixth grade, and has previously worked as a Teaching Assistant and Substitute Teacher for the South Country School District. Currently, in addition to working here at SBU, Nicholas teaches a variety of courses at St. Joseph’s College and Suffolk County Community College including Introduction to Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, and Research Methods in Psychology. Nicholas also works for a private consulting company providing behavioral therapy for children with special needs using the principles of applied behavioral analysis.
Outside of academics Nicholas is a married father of four boys. He enjoys volunteering as a coach and referee for the family’s favorite pastime, hockey, as well as relaxing and barbequing in the backyard.
