Effective Mindfulness and Self-Care for Educators
"Mindfulness isn’t difficult, we just need to remember to do it.” Sharon Salzberg
Teachers’ burnout is real! The work of a teacher is known for being uncertain and emotionally demanding. Teaching in post-pandemic conditions has only added to the stressors that may be contributing to teacher burnout, making it ever more important to develop the skills necessary to alleviate the high degree of burnout in the teaching occupation.
Given the continued increase in the prevalence of stress and anxiety amongst teachers, Stony Brook University School of Professional Development is offering a 6-hour workshop for all teachers and educators focusing on how to look after their mental health, in particular during post-pandemic conditions.
Throughout the four weeks participants will explore some of the latest brain science, as well as mindfulness practices and tools. They will learn how this practice can help themselves in promoting a nurturing classroom therefore helping both teachers and students to reduce stress, anxiety, and disruptive behavior; strengthen focus and attention, self-control, and compassion; improve academic performance, overall well-being, and the ability to better resolve inevitable conflicts.
This workshop is tailored for all levels whether you are new to mindfulness or an experienced practitioner.
