Polymer Chemistry
Polymer Chemistry research at Stony Brook is centered around
(1) the investigations of polymer structures, morphologies, and dynamics from atomic
to mesoscopic scales,
(2) theory and modeling of polyelectrolytes and other biologically relevant polymers,
and
(3) the synthesis of new macromolecules.
Current research topics include preparation and characterization of degradable hydrogels, computational and theoretical studies of structure and flow of soft materials, synthesis of degradable polyacetals and polyesters, and isolation, modification, and application of cellulose-derived materials from renewable sources.
