MTRC Award Management Portal Is Open
The Manufacturing Technology Resource Consortium (MTRC) at Stony Brook University is New York’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NY-MEP) center for the Long Island region. Founded in 2016, MTRC’s mission is to assist small and medium-sized manufacturing companies assess their needs, define specific projects, and connect companies to program partner resources. MTRC supports small to medium-sized manufacturers to stay competitive and stay on Long Island. CEWIT is pleased to announce a joint project with MTRC to help design their new Award Management Portal which will streamline the MTRC grant process, bringing funding and assistance much faster to approved manufacturing companies. The portal was a collaborative brainchild of Dr. Imin Kao, MTRC Executive Director, Cynthia Colon, MTRC Program Manager, and the CEWIT team. CEWIT designed the infrastructure and wrote the code to create the web portal. CEWIT will continue monitoring the system while hosting the site on CEWIT's server.
MTRC provides supplemental awards to qualified manufacturers to offset the cost of the company’s project. The idea behind supporting these local manufacturing companies is to bring improved productivity and new technologies to the area. The process of application review and approval, with the increased demand for development and support on Long Island, will be expedited by the implementation of the portal and thereby increasing turn-around rates. The Supplemental Award can cover a capped percentage of eligible project costs incurred by awardee companies.
“MTRC is the regional center of NY MEP program with a mission to provide growth and innovation services to small and mid-sized manufacturers on LI and to help them create and retain jobs, increase profits, and save time and money,” said Dr. Imin Kao, Executive Director of MTRC at Stony Brook. He went on to add: “The portal, leveraging the expertise of CEWIT in IT, is a big step forward to advance the operations of MTRC and to streamline the application and management of MTRC projects. I would like to thank Cynthia Colon, who spearheaded this project for MTRC, and the CEWIT IT team of Gina, Chris, and Zach, and led by Dr. Rong Zhao.”
